WordCamp Austin 2013 – Recap & Resources

wordcamp_austin_2013-logoWow. Just wow. I’m just settling back into the real world after a great weekend at the WordCamp Austin.

If you’re not familiar with WordCamp, here’s the basic concept:

WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress, the free and open source personal publishing software that powers over 25 million sites on the web. – WordCamp Central

Add in barbecue and healthy dose of queso and you’ve pretty much got the recipe for greatness.

Below I’d like to recap my presentation on customer relationships and highlight some other write-ups from the weekend you might enjoy.

My Little Speech

#WCATX @cdils rockin the mic: “Capturing Clients” on TwitpicThis was my first time to speak at WordCamp; it was simultaneously nervous-making and fantastic! I spoke in the Business Track on the topic of Capturing Clients – How Building Good Relationships Can Build Your Business.

I preach a healthy dose of good customer service around here, so the presentation focused on:

  1. Finding and attracting the right clients for your business
  2. Setting the stage for a good working relationship and project experience
  3. Creating a love fest by surprising and delighting clients with the unexpected
  4. Recovering bad situations by giving a peace offering

Did you know?

There’s a cool little thing called WordPress.tv out there! All WordCamp sessions are recorded and eventually uploaded to WordPress.tv – how freaking cool?!

You can attend WordCamps all over the world without ever leaving your couch, but beware: WordCamp sessions are only half the fun. The rest of the awesome comes from meeting others in the WordPress community and the infinite ideas and discussions sparked as a result…

Here’s the official WordCamp schedule – which one will you attend?
